Contact Cements

Latex Contact Cement

Dural Latex Contact Cement is designed to bond decorative laminates to wood, plywood or particle board. Its many features include high contactability under low pressure, excellent green strength, high peel and shear strength, long open time and low toxicity. Because of its flowability and higher solids content, it spreads much easier than a solvent based contact cement and covers as much as three times the surface area.

Application & Guidelines
  • Application
  • Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease. The recommended minimum temperature to adhesive and substrate is 18°C.

Apply a uniform coat of the Latex Contact Cement to both surfaces by brush, roller or spray. A second coat (applied after the first has dried) is recommended for very porous substrates.

20 minutes of applying the adhesive (under normal temperature and humidity conditions) it will have dried enough to make a bond (check with a finger to see that the adhesive is no longer wet). The bond can be made up to 18 hours after application.

Care should be taken to ensure that the two surfaces are well positioned before they are allowed to come in contact. Use a heavy roller (or a rubber mallet and a piece of wood) to apply pressure to the entire area. Start from the centre and move toward the edges to push out any air bubbles.
